Iolite gets it's name from the Greek word for violet...iolite because of it's color. Iolite can be blue, grey or violet in color. Iolite stones have pleochroism characteristic, which means the color of the stone will vary depending on the viewing angle.
Iolite has been used to reduce blood pressure, to reduce anxiety and stress, and to treat digestive disorders.
